Edward Carl Thompson, Sr.

THOMPSON, Edward Carl, 73 of Chesterfield, VA went to be with the lord on Saturday September 8, 2018. Born in Hopewell, VA, he was the son of the late Otis and Lillian Thompson; and was preceded in death by his father and mother in-law Henry and Francis Williamson. Ed is survived by his wife of 46 years Mary Jane (MJ) Thompson; two children Jane Carlisle and husband Cole; Edward, Jr. (Carl) and wife Rebecca; four grandchildren Thomas and William Carlisle, Edward, III (Tripp) and Collins Thompson; a brother Bruce (Julie) Thompson; two sisters Judy Hughes (Ernest) and Claudia Leech (Kenny). He was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his grandchildren, siblings, nephews, and extended relatives. Ed spent the majority of his career working in education, and helping shape the lives of numerous young men and women. He was an active member of Chester United Methodist Church and President of the Kiwanis Club of Chester. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 11, from 6-8pm and the celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00am both at Chester United Methodist Church.
