Edward "Red" Vaughan, 86, of Carson, VA, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023. He was born in Sussex, VA, to the late Ruth and Ernest Vaughan. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Mariniak and Lucille Chappel; three brothers, Thomas Vaughan, Irving Vaughan, and BJ Vaughan; and his first wife and mother to his children, Joyce "Fran" Vaughan.
Red retired from Honeywell Chemical Plant, Hopewell, VA with 42 years as a field machinist. He loved his cats that were all adopted, especially Shadow and Miss ET. Red loved to cook for his family. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of Carson Community Hunt Club. He also enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, gardening, and watching wrestling on TV with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Sue B. Vaughan; two sons, Charles Vaughan (Wanda) and Warren Vaughan (Anne); step-son, Tyler Waterfield (Lexi); five grandchildren, Heather Green, Lynn Vaughan, Erica Vaughan, Nicole Walker, and C.J. Vaughan; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Southlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Michael Baugham, officiating.
