E.F. â??Saltyâ? Salton, age 76, of Chester, VA, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2008. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Eugene Francis Salton and Annie M. Tolston. â??Saltyâ? was an avid hunter, and loved to fish and garden. He was a member of the Last Chance Hunt Club. â??Saltyâ? was a retired teacher of 32 years for Chesterfield County School system where he taught Industrial Arts. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany as an aircraft mechanic. â??Saltyâ? was preceded in death by his wife Virginia May Salton. He is survived by his son Ronald E. Salton; daughter, Rhonda Salton Custalow and husband Marvin, both of Chester, VA; granddaughters, Lauren Ipock Smith and husband Bobby, of Ruffin, NC, Virginia Lynn Custalow, of Chester; grandson, Tyler C. Salton, also of Chester; great granddaughter, Tabytha J. Smith, of Ruffin, NC; niece, Betty Bullock, of Chester, and Marjory Crawford, of GA. The family will receive friends at the Chesterfield chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Friday, July 11, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held there on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 11:30 a.m., with interment following in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Chester Christian Church, 4330 Curtis Street, Chester, VA 23831, or the American Lung Association in remembrance of Virginia M. Salton.
