Elaine O. Phillips

September 29, 1938 — January 19, 2013

Elaine O. Phillips, 74, of Prince George died Saturday, January 19, 2013. She was a native of Brunswick County born the daughter of the late Earlie Clair and Mary Sue Oliver. Mrs. Phillips retired as Treasurer of Prince George County, was active in the Prince George Women’s Club and St. Marks United Methodist Church where she played hand bells and served as the Church Treasurer for over 20 years. She is survived by her loving husband O. Doyle “Phil” Phillips; a son Osborne D. Phillips, Jr and his wife Patricia; a daughter Maria Phillips Guidry and her husband Robert; two granddaughters Madison Claire Guidry and Marley Elaine Guidry; two sisters Mary Anna Phillips and Mabel Lafoon; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her uncle Will Hammond who raised her after her father’s death at a young age and her sister Susan McKinney. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Cohen and his wonderful staff for everything they did for Elaine and the family. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 22nd at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son with Pastor Gretchen Nelson officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Marks UMC, 225 Claremont St, Petersburg, VA, 23805.
