Elbert Jay Spruill

Elbert Jay Spruill, 69, a resident of Chester VA, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Beedie Spruill; brother, Don Spruill; sister, Pat Tyson; He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years Patricia Spruill; son, Christopher Jay Spruill (Glenna); grandchildren, Jocelyn and Beckham Spruill; sisters, Diane Twiddy (Frank), Brenda Williams (Jack), Cheryl Williams (Roy), Kathy Biggs (Marv); brothers, Jeff Spruill (Inga) and Ken Spruill (Susan); numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He was the CEO and Chairman of the Board of C.W. Wright Construction Company and Utility Services Associates, Inc. 11500 Iron Bridge Rd. Chester, VA 23831. Jay was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed bird hunting and offshore fishing. He was a veteran of the United States Army and received a purple heart during his time in service of his country. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. The family will receive friends Monday, April 6, 2015 from 2-4pm and 6-8 pm at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service Chester Chapel 3050 W. Hundred Rd. Chester, VA 23831. A funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Ironbridge Baptist Church 10900 Iron Bridge Rd. Chester, VA 23831. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
