Eleanor Gray Sublett Avent

Eleanor Gray Sublett Avent, 97, of Chester, VA., passed away Monday, May 20, 2019. Born in Campbell County, VA to the late Eugene Irving Sublett, Sr. and Eula Anna Jordan Sublett, she was raised in Hopewell, VA. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jesse Benjamin Avent; son, Henry Benjamine Avent; and brother, Eugene Irving Sublett, Jr. Eleanor was a member of Enon Baptist Church and a Hopewell High School graduate. She is survived by daughter, Betty Ann Avent Canoles; grandchildren, William Edward Canoles, Jr. and wife, Sally, Nancy Ann Canoles and husband, Robert Mays; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Eleanor, William Andrew and Benjamin Thomas Canoles, and brother, Wayne Jordan Sublette. The family will receive friends, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 23, 2019 at J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home of Hopewell. A graveside service will be held, 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 24, 2019 at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, VA. Memorial contributions may be made to Enon Baptist Church, 13607 N.
