Elfriede Anna Pitmon passed away May 10, 2004 at Hopewell Health Care Convalescent Center. She was formerly a resident of Petersburg and was the widow of Ralph L. Pitmon. She was born on October 22, 1928 in Odrau, Czecholslovokia to Anton and Josefa Futschik. After WWII her family relocated to West Germany settling near Hiedelberg, there she met and married her husband, an American soldier. They transferred to the United States in 1955. She received her U.S. citizenship in 1959. She and her husband lived at various posts including Ft. Belvoir, Little Creek Amphibious Base, Ft. Lee and Bad Kruznach, Germany. She was a member of Women of the Moose Chapter 1180 Hopewell, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her five daughters; Claudia P. (Ronald) Sneade of Sparta, GA, Margie P. (Larry) Strum of Colonial Heights, Sandra P. (Doug) Wolfe of Topeka, KS, Ramona P. Rhodes of Chestefield and Patricia P. (Robert) Boone of Salisbury, NC; grandchildren, Jennifer Pelotte, Meredith Sneade, Alan Bridgman, Jr., Chad Strum, Jessica Rhodes, Kyle Rhodes, Jason Boone, Nicole Wolfe and Whitney Boone and a great-grandson, Zachary J. Pelotte. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, May 14, 2004 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
