Eliza Wooden Collins Myrick, 100, of Petersburg, VA, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2022. Born in Chatham, VA, she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Delta Seabright Collins; and was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy Elliott Myrick, Jr.; and her brother, Lawrence Collins. As a child, she attended Hughes Memorial Home for Children in Danville, VA, which she is very proud of. She got a quality education and made lifetime friends. She graduated from Chester High School in Chester, VA in 1939. Mrs. Myrick was a good friend to many and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was a woman of God and a loyal member of St. Mark's UMC in Petersburg, where she was involved in various church activities for many years. She enjoyed knitting, cross-stitch, crocheting and was an excellent cook. She always kept an orderly home, making sure everything was tidy and organized. She will be remembered by her family as a loving and devoted wife and mother. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at the Petersburg Home for Ladies for their dedication and care to Mrs. Myrick and making her feel at home. Mrs. Myrick is survived by her son, Robert A. Myrick; and numerous cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2022 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with the Reverend Jeaux Simmons officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park, South Prince George, VA.
