Elizabeth “Betty” Stainback Jeter, 84, of Dinwiddie, VA passed away on March 29, 2015 at the Dunlop House in Colonial Heights. Born in Henderson, NC she was the daughter of the late William Barnard and Lois Parham Beam Stainback; and was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Edward Elmer Jeter; and her sister, Jeanne Henderson. Mrs. Jeter had retired as the voter registrar in Dinwiddie County after 45 years of service. She and Elmer enjoyed traveling after retirement and also enjoyed thoroughbred horse racing which they followed for 50 years together. She attended Crawford United Methodist Church in Dinwiddie. She is survived by her three children, Debbie J. Riggan and husband, Bob, William S. Jeter and wife, Valerie, and Karen Jeter Slade; five grandchildren, Sara (Nathan), Erin, Nichole, Lauren and Emily; two great-grandsons, John Marshall and Luke; and family friend and companion, Evelyn Bonner. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Lester, officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA.
