Clements, Elizabeth Horak, 92, passed away September 21, 2017. Born in Petersburg, VA, she was one of five children born to Mary and Henry Horak. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Buster Horak and Henry Horak; and a sister, Pearl Griggs. She is survived by her sister, Lucille Edwards. She was married to John W. Clements who predeceased her. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Thackston (Dick); her son, Larry (Ann); and grandchildren, Scott Thackston (Michelle), and Keith Thackston; step-grandchildren, Sarah Williamson (Sammy) and Jonathan Waddill; and great-grandchildren, Abby Thackston, Kara Thackston, and Shane Clements. She deeply mourned the deaths of grandchildren Lisa Clements and Amy Clements as well as her first great-grandchild, Katie Thackston. She was dearly loved by her family, who couldn’t wait to visit when she fixed her famous chicken and dumplings. She worked as a dedicated employee for the Prince George School System for 25 years. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where she was an active member. She loved traveling, playing cards with her cousins, and laughing with her Red Hat Dixie Divas. She had many creative talents, including sewing, painting, and woodworking. All will miss her warm smile and sweet spirit. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 151 W. Washington St., Petersburg, VA 23803. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 25, 2017 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 151 W. Washington St., Petersburg, VA 23803 in memory of Mrs. Clements.
