Elizabeth Rainey

Elizabeth Pilout Flowers Rainey, 92, of Sutherland, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2007. Born in Dinwiddie County, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Joseph A. and Rebekah Gilliam Pilout. She was widowed by Sylvester Garris Flowers in 1945 and Moyland Gibson Rainey, Jr. in 2005. Mrs. Rainey was a graduate of the Petersburg School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse at the Petersburg Hospital. She later served as a postal clerk and interim Post Master at the Sutherland Post Office. She was a longtime member of Ocran United Methodist Church where she served as Treasurer for many years. She is survived by her sons, James Garriss Flowers and wife Margie of Dinwiddie and Moyland Gilliam Rainey and wife, Sara of McDonough, GA; grandchildren, Robin Flowers Green, Elizabeth Leigh Flowers, Moyland Gilliam Rainey, Jr., and Polly Pope Rainey; great-grandchildren, Joe Tyler Green and Mason Garriss Green; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 22, at Ocran United Methodist Church Cemetery, Sutherland.
