Elizabeth Jane Rainey

Elizabeth Jane Burts Rainey, 79, of Sutherland, VA, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2015. Born in Reidsville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Cardwell Burts and Thomas H. Burts. Jane was a graduate of the Stuart Circle Hospital School of Nursing and served in various nursing capacities for many years. She was a former member of Wesley United Methodist Church of Colonial Heights and a current member of Ocran United Methodist Church of Sutherland. She especially enjoyed being a member of the Rosecrest Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Rainey, and her daughter, Elizabeth Anne Rainey. Jane took great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her son, John Rainey and his wife Kelly of Colonial Heights, daughters, Janice Rainey Blair and husband Kevin of Orwigsburg, PA, Joanne Rainey Guarino and husband Joseph of Greensboro, NC, and Jennie Rainey Picardat and husband Randy of Dinwiddie; grandchildren, John P. Rainey, III and wife Erica, Randy Picardat, Ana Rainey, Michael Guarino, David Guarino, Tori Picardat Cousins and husband Zack, Stuart Blair and Matthew Blair; and great- grandchildren, Ella Marie Rainey, Indiana Jack Rainey, Brooklyn Elizabeth Cousins and Nora Grey Rainey; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Ocran United Methodist Church with the Reverend Larry House officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funera Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ocran UMC, P.O.
