Elizabeth Madison Taylor, 96, died peacefully on July 26, 2011. She was born April 4, 1915, in Petersburg and was the daughter of the late Martha Morris and Randolph Madison. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dr. Francis Nicholson Taylor and her grandson, John William Baker III.
She is survived by her sister, Martha Lee Romaine, and her brother, Randolph Madison, Jr., both of Petersburg; her four daughters, Elizabeth Baker Trinder and her husband John, of Norfolk, Ann Taylor Myers and her husband, Carter, of Charlottesville, Alice Holleman Taylor and Frances Madison Taylor, both of Petersburg. She is also survived by four granddaughters, Elizabeth Baker Golpira and her husband, Pierre, of Norfolk, Ann Baker Ruble and her husband, Charles, of Brooklyn, NY, Elizabeth Myers Borches and her husband, Peter, of Charlottesville, and Sarah Broocks Myers of Charlottesville. Her great-grandchildren are Lily, Charlotte and Ann Gray Golpira of Norfolk, Lane and Charles Ruble of Brooklyn, NY, and Taylor and Parker Borches of Charlottesville.
Elizabeth was a member of First Baptist Church, an honorary member of the Petersburg Garden Club and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also loved the game of golf where she made many wonderful memories with her husband and friends. She will be remembered by her quick laughter, ready smile and devotion to her family.
The family extends special thanks to the Dunlop House, Hospice of Virginia, and to caregivers, Veronica Epps and Antoinette Godette.
A graveside service will be held Friday, July 29th at 11:00 am at Blandford Cemetery with Pastor Robert Dawson officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 235 W. Washington Street, Petersburg, VA, 23803. Funeral arrangements are being handled by J.T.
