Ella Mae Coleman Hill

Mrs. Ella Mae Coleman Hill, of 5539 Bell Flower Court, Prince George, VA, transitioned from this earth to be received by her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.
Ella was preceded in death by her father, Bolton Coleman, Jr.; her mother, Elnora Coleman; father-in-law, Pettieway Hill, Sr.; mother-in-law, Inez Marshall Hill; sisters, Mary Ann Coleman and Catherine Whitehead (Spencer); brothers-in-law, Lawrence Matthews (Sharon), Charles Hill, Pettieway Hill, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Bolton, Sr. and Elsie Coleman; and maternal grandparents, George and Mary Alexander.
Ella was born in Prince George County, VA to Bolton and Elnora Coleman on July 15, 1948. She received her education in Prince George Public Schools in Prince George County, VA. After high school, she studied transcription at a local technical school and received certification in daycare management. She has been employed as a waitress at Howard Johnson in Petersburg, VA, Firestone Plant in Hopewell, VA and Hopewell Public Schools in the cafeteria, from where she later retired.
Ella was saved and was an active member of the Word of Life Center in Hopewell, VA, where she prospered spiritually under the leadership of Bishop Richard H. Cross, Sr. and Elder Catherine Cross until her health declined and hindered her attendance.
Ella loved God, her family, and extended family. She always opened her heart and her home, and she welcomed ALL as if they were her own. She often put the needs of others before her own. She instilled in her children the importance of being kind to others and always showing the love of God in all that they do. She had a wonderful spirit and was nicknamed "Sunshine" by those who knew and loved her. She had a peaceful and kind spirit and showed the loving kindness of God to all that knew her. She loved to cook and make new recipes for her family to enjoy and taking trips to the beach with her family. She fondly gave each of her family members loving nicknames and loved to have gatherings to keep the family together.
Ella was a very kind and gentle soul who was loved by many that met her; she was also adopted as a mother to many as well. She will be missed by those that love her, her immediate and extended family, and by all those whom she has touched during her lifetime. She has left a great legacy for her children, grandchildren, and family to follow.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Reed Hill, Sr.; children, Tonia Bland (Quincy), Reed Hill, Jr. (Amanda); brothers, Willie Coleman, Sr. (Dorothy), Calvin Coleman, Sr. (Wanda); brothers-in-law, Spencer Whitehead, Sr., Andre Coleman, Sr. (Linda), Kenneth Coleman (Deborah), Wayne Coleman, Sr. (Andrea), Terry Coleman, Sr., (LaKeisha), Garry Coleman, Sr. (Babette); sisters, Sharon Matthews, Sylvia D. Coleman, Melissa C. Dennis; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Hill (Shelley), Gray Hill; sisters-in-law, Nancy Watson (Earl), Bobbie Hill; grandchildren, Jalen Bland, Jacari Bland, Brendon Bland, Brianna Rose, Elise Hill, Kamryn Hill; nephew, Virtonio Hill; and a host of special nieces and nephews whom she considered as her own, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2022, at J.T. Morriss & Son - Hopewell Chapel, 820 W. Broadway Ave., Hopewell, VA 23860. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
