Ellen Gray Godbold Bland of Chester, VA, passed away suddenly August 7, 2016 at her home. Mrs. Bland was born in Duplin County, September 29, 1949 to the late Charles Lee Godbold and Elizabeth Boney Godbold. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, August 12, 2016 at Community Funeral Home Chapel of Rose Hill. Burial will follow in the Bland Family Cemetery of Magnolia. A visitation will be held 7 pm to 9 pm Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Community Funeral Home of Rose Hill. Mrs. Bland is survived by husband, Norman Ray Bland of the home; sons, Bryant Smith and wife, Amy of Teachey and Charlie Smith and wife, Autumn of Wallace; daughter, Lisa Kennedy of Wallace; brother, Joe Godbold of Bowdens; sisters, Ann Freed and husband, Chuck of Florida and Sue Rabon and husband, Tom of Warsaw; grandchildren, Autumn Maddox, Harley Maddox, Alex Smith, James Smith, Ella Smith. Olivia Kennedy and William Kennedy and great-granddaughter, Karsyn Smith. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bland was preceded in death by grandson William "T.J." Maddox; brothers, Jimmy, Johnny and Charles "Shark" Godbold.
