Ellen "Nell" Conahan Brown, 60, of Chester, Virginia, was set free in peace surrounded by her family on May 26th, 2022. Nell was born in Pennsylvania with mother, Natalie Stadnicki Conahan; father, Dennis John Conahan; sisters, Katie, Kathleen, Maggie; and brother, Mike. Nell moved with her family to Wilmington, North Carolina where she graduated from Hoggard High School then earned a B.S. in Marketing from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Nell met and later married her husband Charlie in 1989, and began her career as an Army wife. Honorably serving this country alongside her husband, Nell selflessly cared for Soldiers and their families stateside and abroad for over 27 years in peace and war while raising her own family.
Nell is survived by her devoted husband, Army Colonel (Retired) Charles Brown; their beautiful daughters, Callie Brown Ruane (husband, Nathan, and granddaughter, Olivia Nell) and Christina Brown; sister, Maggie Pittman (husband Paul); brother, Michael Conahan (wife, Kelli); sisters-in-law, Inga Dauphinee and Greta Jurado (husband, Mario); nephews, Ryan, John and Sam; and nieces, Lauren, Greta, Kelsey, Ingrid, and Kendal.
A loving mother and grandmother, Nell spent every moment of her blessed life committed to her family and others. A devout Christian, Nell found the Holy Spirit which gave her peace and time needed for family and friends to love, hug and say "I love you." Nell cherished her beloved friends, finding such joy in supporting in any and every way she could. A wonderful cook and gardener, proud of her Polish and Irish heritage, Nell was the ultimate host and loved entertaining.
Nell's funeral is on June 11th, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at the St. Ann Catholic Church, 17111 Jefferson Davis Highway, South Chesterfield, Virginia. Her burial will take place in Elysburg, Pennsylvania at a later date with family followed by a celebration at Knoebels Amusement Park- Nell's favorite.
