Ellen Rachel Eggleston

Ellen Rachel Eggleston, 85, of Hopewell, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021. Born in Eden, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Stewart Yates and Dovie Massey Yates. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Andrew Eggleston; and sister, Ruth Jones. She is survived by her children, Keith Eggleston (Frances), Kay Eure (Jim), and Kenneth Eggleston (Stephanie); grandchildren, Andy Eure (Donna), Michael Eure, Kevin Eggleston, Kelly Eggleston, and Sara Hypes (Nathan); great-grandchildren, Bristol Eure, Macon Eure, Shailyn Nester, and Grayson Hypes; sister, Dixie Myers (Charlie); and sister-in-law, Frances Jamison.
Ellen Eggleston was employed with Reynolds Metal, retiring after 30 years of service. In her early years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, John. She enjoyed the Army reunions they attended from John’s military service. Ellen also loved to watch NASCAR and visit the racetracks with John when possible. She especially loved being outside in her yard. Cutting the grass was one of her favorite things to do! She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
A Graveside service will be held Friday, January 22, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
