Ellen Harrison Holland

Ellen Harrison Holland departed this life on February 20, 2017. Ellen was born on July 30, 1925 in Prince George County to the late Charles Valentine Harrison and Rosa Marks Harrison. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Carlton Holland, her sisters, Virginia Harrison Godfrey, Mary Harrison McBride Klassett, and her brother, Henry Pretlow Harrison. Ellen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Carlton Emmett Holland and Jeannie M. Holland of Chesterfield, her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen Peterson and Dan C. Peterson of Redmond, Washington, and her sister, Emily Harrison Inge of Norfolk. Other survivors include many nieces and nephews and four grandchildren by marriage and their families including two great-grandchildren. Ellen treasured the family get-togethers, where she was always lovingly celebrated as a family matriarch. Ellen was a life-long resident of Hopewell. She graduated from Hopewell High School in the class of 1943 and continued to enjoy lunching with her surviving class members until taking ill. She was a member of Wesley Methodist Church and a former member of the Hopewell Optimist. Ellen was retired from Sears after many years of service. A funeral service will be held at 12:00p.m. on February, 25 at J. T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home in Hopewell with visitation one hour prior. The Pastor Jacob Sahms will officiate with private interment at a later time.
