Elmer Burnham Jr., 80, of Hopewell, died Thursday, January 4, 2007 in Chippenham Medical Center. Mr. Burnham was born in Swissvale, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Elmer and Dorothy Mae Spruill Burnham Sr. .He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a retired computer specialist with the U. S. Army Post. Surviving are his wife Dorothea P. Burnham of Hopewell, a step-daughter, Patricia A. Hile of Chester, two step-sisters, Lavonia Doyle of Richmond, Marie Irby of Chester, three step-brothers, Elwood Burnham of Charleston, S. C., Charles W. Burnham of Petersburg, and Douglas Burnham of Chester, two sisters, Alma Townsend of Seattle, WA., Rose Miller of Prince George, two brothers, William E. Burnham of Chula Vista, CA., Raymond J. Burnham of Chester, Va., the family will receive friends on Sunday, January 7, 2007 from 7 to 8:30 P.M. in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Monday, January 8, 2007 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
