Elsie Layne Bogese passed away peacefully at the age of 86 at the University of Virginia Medical Center at mid-day on Sunday, January 15, 2012. She was born on June 27, 1925 in Petersburg, VA to Mr. and Mrs. Robert E Layne. As an aspiring young woman, Elsie graduated from the Petersburg Hospital School of Nursing in 1945, when she became a registered nurse. A committed nurse for 40 years with an inclination to help others in need, wife to George Bogese, and mother of four, Elsieâ??s unmistakable love for her children will be her lasting legacy. She and George Bogese had four children: Jimmy Bogese, Debbie â??Deboâ? Bogese Ramsden, Ken Bogese, and Bruce Bogese. Her unwavering love for her children exemplified the woman of character that she was. An elegant southern woman who stood for formalism and propriety, Elsie Bogese inspired those around her to answer the calls of society with a polite greeting and a comforting southern tone. Highly regarded among all friends and family, Elsie garnered the love and admiration of her grandchildren Lauren Bogese Fenn, Cameron Ramsden May, Clint Ramsden III, Brent Bogese, Travis Bogese, West Bogese, and Stirling Moore who frequently visited with her and learned from her well-mannered disposition. Visitation hours are from 12 to 1 p.m. followed by a service commemorating and celebrating Elsieâ??s life at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at J.T. Morriss Funeral Home in Petersburg, Virginia. The burial will take place following the funeral at Blanford Cemetery.
