Elsie Bresko Vargo

Elsie Bresko Vargo,88, of Prince George, VA Passed away, Sunday, February 28, 2021. Born to the late Henry and Lillie Bresko. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, William G. “Buck” Vargo; son, Michael E. “Mickey” Vargo; daughter, Gail A. Vargo; and sister, Esther B. Rusnak. Elsie graduated from Disputanta High School, “Class of 1950”. She retired after 29 years as a statistical clerk from Fort Lee and after 15 years, retired from David A. Harrison Elementary School where she was known as the “Lunch Lady”. Elsie was a member of Bethlehem Congregational Church, where she served as choir director, pianist, and member of the willing workers and piece makers. She enjoyed gardening, working with flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister. She is survived by her sons, Roger W. “Buck” Vargo (Susan), and Philip A. Vargo; daughter Phyllis Vargo-Davis (Mark); grandchildren, Andrew W. M. Vargo (Amanda), Philip A. Vargo, Jr. (Rebecca), Elizabeth V. Kempf (Jimmy), Jami L. Davis and Brendal J. W. Vargo; great-grandchildren Hendrix Vargo, and James Kempf III; sister Henrietta Brooks (Buster); as well as numerous friends and extended family. A service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at First Baptist Church, 401 N. 2nd Ave, Hopewell VA 23860. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Congregational Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 4600 Cox Rd, Suite 130, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
