Emery Junior Stidham

It is with sadness that the family of Emery Junior Stidham announces his passing on Sunday, May 8, 2016. Junior was born in the Wise County VA, December 23, 1924 and was a longtime resident of Hopewell, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Elsie Vergara Stidham; his beloved son, Paul Emery Stidham; his parents George and Amanda Miller Stidham; and several brothers, and sisters. He is survived by his daughters, Elisa Stidham Carraway and her husband, James (Butch), Marian Stidham Smith and her husband, Mike; sons, Christopher Stidham and his wife, Pam, and Marty Stidham and his wife, Kim. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Julia Winchell Jayatilaka and her husband, Suresh, Tripp Carraway and his wife, Suzanna, Kendall Carraway, Lexie, Kelsey, Alex, and Adam Stidham; two great-grandchildren; Braedyn and Charlotte; a brother, Claude Stidham; several nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. Junior was an active member of Saint James Catholic Church and a founding member of St. James Knights of Columbus. He was devoted to his family and his faith. A Christian Wake service will be from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at St. James Catholic Church, 510 W. Poythress Street, Hopewell, VA., 23860. Visitation will follow also at the church from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the church. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Richmond, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Knights of Columbus Council 4568 P.O. Box 1350 Hopewell, Virginia 23860.
