Emily Kathleen Tudor, 25, of Chester, VA., touched the face of God on Saturday, November 19, 2011 after an incredibly courageously fought long illness. It was to be her wedding day. She was born July 31, 1986, in Petersburg, VA. Left to smile at her memory are her parents, Joe and Kathleen Tudor; her sister, Sarah Tudor; and her fiancé, Rusty Bartlett, all of Chester; her grandparents Kelly and Lou Tate of Virginia Beach, VA; her grandmother, Hazel Tudor of Stony Creek, VA; many aunts, uncles and cousins, â??second Daddiesâ? and multitudes of friends. Emily graduated from Thomas Dale High School in 2004. She graduated from John Tyler Community College with honors with a degree in Police Science and transferred to VCU in 2007. After one semester, she decided to â??go to a real schoolâ? and transferred to ODU. Her proudest achievements were graduating from Old Dominion University with a BS in Criminal Justice in December 2008, her excellent marksmanship skills on the firing range, and being a police recruit with the 35th Training Academy of the VCU Police Dept. in 2009. She loved music, shopping, dogs, being with her sister, being with Rusty, spending time with friends, hanging out with her parentsâ?? friends at home, dogs, checking up on her sister, picking on her father, talking with her mother, did we mention dogs?, UVA, and slamming VCU because ODU has a (winning) football team, and, well, sheâ??s an ODU grad; itâ??s what we do. Emily had a great concern for others in need and answered her calling to serve something bigger than herself. She was predeceased by her cousin, Anthony Peer, her grandfather, â??Peteâ? Tudor, and her beloved dog Sadie. The family would like to thank the outstanding Chesterfield EMS crew at Station 17 and the gifted St. Francis ER and ICU teams for all their Herculean efforts to save Emily last week, Dr. Sandhu at VCU for his attempts to find the cause and right treatment of her illness, and their family and friends for their support over these last four years. She was one of a kind, had tremendous strength and courage, and we look forward to seeing her beautiful face again one day. The visitation is Friday, November 25, from 6-8 pm at J.T. Morriss Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Road in Chester. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, November 26, at St. Annâ??s Catholic Church, 17111 Jefferson Davis Hwy. in Colonial Heights. Interment follows at Sunset Memorial Park, 2901 West Hundred Road, Chester. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to B.A.R.K., Officer Down Memorial Page or the MCV Foundation Current GI Fund in her name. Oh Emily, we love you more than God can count.
