Emma Thomas Graves Mead, widow of Rev. Forest H. Mead, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013. Born on December 12, 1911 in Chesterfield Virginia, she was the fourth child of the late Robert Moyland Graves and Minnie Howlett Graves. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Forest and Emma enjoyed 53 happily married years together. For 50 of those years, they served congregations in the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Mead Woodall, and her husband James; a son, Robert E. Mead and his wife, Patricia; four granddaughters, Cynthia Mead Popeck and her husband, Kenneth, Dr. Susan Mead Moose and her husband, Robert, Roberta Mead Wright, Catherine Mead Rhodes and her husband, Donald; two grandsons, Robert Alan Woodall, and Thomas Edward Woodall; six great-grandchildren, Alexander H. Woodall, Elizabeth A. Woodall, Nathaniel H. Woodall, Teresa Wright, Christian Rhodes, and Nicholas Rhodes; sister-in-law, Mrs. Stella Mead Earman; first cousin, Mrs. Willnet Howlett Lockett; three nephews, and three nieces. A Graveside Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Woods United Methodist Church Cemetery. A reception will be held after the service in the Church Social Hall.
