Emma Ruth Phillingane

Emma “Ruth” Phillingane, 87, of Petersburg, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2020. Born in Chesterfield, VA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Nathan Phillingane, Sr. and Bettie Ellis Phillingane. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Charles N. Phillingane, Jr., Milton Phillingane, and Doris Wiendhal. She is survived by a brother, Preston Grammer; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ruth Phillingane established the Petersburg School of Practical Nursing where she retired after many years of service. When possible, she enjoyed reading and traveling. Ruth Phillingane was a faithful member of Petersburg Seventh Day Adventist Church and enjoyed being active with her church family. She enjoyed working with children in the church for more than 50 years. She will be missed. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Southlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to Petersburg Seventh Day Adventist Church- Food Bank, 300 Poplar Dr. Petersburg, VA 23805.
