Emmett T. â??Docâ? Seay, 89 of Colonial Heights entered into Eternal Rest on September 19, 2006 at John Randolph Hospital. He was born in Richmond, son of the late James M. Seay, Sr. and Goldye Atkinson Seay. Also, preceded in death sisters Evelyn S. Hardison and Alease S. Williams and brother James M. Seay, Jr. Mr. Seay served his country in the Army and spent 2 ½ years in South Pacific during World War II. After returning home he started a career in banking with Petersburg Savings & American Trust Company. After many mergers and name changes he retired after 38 years as Senior Vice President of Bank of America. While in banking he served on many boards, Commonwealth Gas Distribution, VA. State College Foundation, Mary Carter Beacon House, Dinwiddie Industrial Authority, Salvation Army, Ft. Lee Advisory Committee and Petersburg Multiple Sclerosis Society. He was given Life Membership in Southside VA Emergency Crew for serving as Secretary & Treasurer for many years. Emmett was a life member of First Baptist Church in Petersburg. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Miriam D. Seay; sister-in-laws, Jane W. Seay and Gloria D. Johnson; father-in-law, Abner J. Daulton, four nephews and five nieces. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, September 22, 2006 in the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Blandford Cemetery.
