Eric Stafford Renne, Sr.

Eric Stafford Renne, Sr., 75 of Surry, Virginia, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016. He was born in Bridgeton, New Jersey, to the late Henry Earl Renne and Martha Katharine Stafford Renne. He was raised and graduated in Vineland, NJ. Eric graduated from Virginia Tech in 1962 where he was in the Corp Cadets and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, he was also a graduate from Union Theological Seminary of Richmond, VA., in 1966. He was a proud Air Force Chaplain serving in Vietnam, Korea and Hawaii and retiring as a LTCOL after 27 years of service. His last assignment was as Senior Protestant Chaplain at Arlington National Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Martha Moore Renne; children, Elizabeth Renne Hinckle, Christa Renne Lee (R. Steven), and Eric Stafford Renne, Jr.; grandchildren, DJ Hinckle, Virginia Lee, Henry Lee, and Leslie Lee; brother, Merlin M. Renne (Marion); and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 11891 Rolfe Hwy, Surry, VA 23883. Interment with military honors will take place in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
