Ernest Maxie ?Hootie? Holleman, Sr., 76, of Colonial Heights, died Saturday, March 26, 2005. Ernie was a retired employee of Philip Morris Tobacco Corporation. At the end of World War II, he served in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Le Jeune. Ernie was born July 14, 1928, the second son of the late Edward Cranford Holleman, Sr. and Ella Hundley Holleman. He was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Ernie is survived by his son, Ernest Maxie Holleman, Jr. and his daughter, Donna Lynn Holleman Dempsey, both of Colonial Heights; one brother, Edward Cranford Holloman, Jr. of Alexandria; five grandchildren, Amy Noel Holleman of Richmond, Ryan Patrick Holleman, Julie Elizabeth Holleman, Brett Alan Dempsey, and Rachel Lynn Dempsey, all of Colonial Heights. Funeral services will be held at Colonial Heights Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 30. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
