Esther Fitzgerald

Esther Grey Davis Fitzgerald, 73, of Chester died Saturday, December 17, 2005. She was a native of Amherst County, born the daughter of the late Ashby and Ruth Davis. Mrs. Fitzgerald was a member of Chester Baptist Church, the Chester Women?s Club, Alpha Delta Kappa Educational Honor Society, and a retired Assistant Principal with Chesterfield County Schools with 42 years of service. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years Edsel E. Fitzgerald; four children Sharon Fitzgerald Massie of Lexington, John Davis Fitzgerald and wife Rebecca of Hanover, Ellen Fitzgerald Sapko and husband Joseph of Chester, and Susan Fitzgerald Oliver and husband Jason of Chester; seven grandchildren Sarah and Nathaniel Massie, Taylor, Emily, and Madison Fitzgerald, Colin and Lauren Sapko; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two children Deborah Joyce Fitzgerald and a son Edsel Elroy Fitzgerald, Jr., a brother Ashby Davis and a sister Alice Davis Myers. A funeral service will be held Monday, December 19th at 6 PM at Chester Baptist Church with a visitation to follow until 9 PM with Dr. Edward Stansfield officiating. Burial will be Wednesday, December 21st at 2 PM at Amherst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 5511 Staples Mills Rd, Richmond, 23228 or the American Heart Association.
