Ethel Wynne Smith Moody, of Prince George, passed away March 3, 2023, in her home. She was born on March 26, 1919, in Warren County, NC, to Blanche Knight Wynne and Barker Wynne. She was predeceased by her brothers, Barker "Buck", Charles, and Jack; her sisters, Jean Wynne, Joyce "Faye" Wynne Barnette, Catherine Wynne Fowler, of North Carolina, and Louise (Tootsie) Bentley, of Chicago, Illinois, and Ruby Wynne Cole Walker, of Prince George. Ethel was also predeceased by her husband, Reid Smith; and her son, Tommy Smith.
Ethel is survived by her husband, William A. Moody; several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was a member of Rivers Edge Bible Church.
Mrs. Moody was a woman of many talents. She could operate a tractor and a sewing machine. She enjoyed fishing but her real love was in growing things. She always had wonderful vegetables and beautiful flowers. She could take a small piece of discarded plant and grow a beautiful, healthy plant. She knew a lot of things about older times and could remember many things our modern world has forgotten. She loved to can vegetables, make jellies, and was a wonderful cook. She made a lot of friends and was always welcoming to anyone wanting to "stay a while" and talk. She will be missed by many.
A graveside service will be held at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, in Prince George, on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 1:00 PM. J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home in Hopewell is in charge of arrangements.
