Eunice Vernie Archer Newton, 80, of Dinwiddie, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 28, 2013. Born in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Vernie Eunice Hare Archer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Willie B. Newton, Sr. Mrs. Newton was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her family. She is survived by her son, Bernie Newton and wife, Tina of Dinwiddie; her daughters, Deborah Dear and husband, Bernard Jr. of Dinwiddie, Cheryl Newton Griffin and husband, Randy of S. Chesterfield, Kathy Elder and husband, Jimmy of McKenney, and Cindy Newton of Dinwiddie; grandchildren, Mandy, Shawn and wife, Courtney, and Troy; great-grandchildren, Mattie, Ashley, Sienna, and Kaylee, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved pet, “Baby Girl.” A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 2nd at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Pastor Carl Weaver officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
