Eva Austin Rhodes, of Pawleyâ??s Island, SC died unexpectedly Thursday, April 7, at Waccamaw Hospital. She was born August 17, 1940, the eighth of 10 children, of the late J.G. and Ruby Austin. She was enjoying the retirement environment of coastal SC, after residing in Chester, VA for over 50 years, during a long and dedicated career with Reynolds Metals / Alcoa in Richmond. Eva was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Raymond George in 1997 and two brothers Fred Austin (Ruth) and Walter Austin (Sandra). She is survived by a son, Gerald Raymond Rhodes of SC; a granddaughter, Cierrah D. Rhodes of Chester, VA; a brother, Gerald Austin (Mary) of Staunton, VA; six sisters, Nancy Carver (Brad) of Pawleyâ??s Island, SC; Jessie Secrist (Dooley) of Las Vegas; Gladys Floyd (Wallace) of Las Vegas; Helen Slough (Sonny) of Buena Vista, VA; Willie Camden (Walter) of Big Island, VA; Annie Bennett (Bob) of Big Island, VA; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday April 16 @ 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel of JT Morris Funeral Home in Chester, VA. Interment will be private. Her kindness and generosity will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known Eva.
