Evelyn Naomi Arvin, 87, of Hopewell, died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 in John Randolph Medical Center. Mrs. Arvin was a member of the Woodmen of the World, a volunteer at John Randolph Medical Center, a member of First Christian Church and a retired secretary for civil service at Fort Lee, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert L. and Pansy Lewellyn Thompson, her first husband, Vernon M. Arvin, Sr., her second husband Frank Arvin, a daughter, Carol Sue Arvin, two brothers, Otis Thompson and Jake Thompson, two sisters, Charlotte Casey and Genell Estes. Mrs. Arvin is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Ann Arvin, a son, Vernon Meredith Arvin, Jr. and his wife Betty Lou, all of Hopewell, two grandchildren, Mary Irene Geremia, and Dale Gross, one great grandchild, Jonathan Dean, one great, great grandchild, Michael Dean and two sisters, Novella Chavis and Betty T. Orlando, both of Hopewell. A funeral service will be held Monday, December 27, 2010 at 12:00 Noon in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Bobby Lane, pastor of First Christian Church officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 203 North 11th Street, Hopewell, Virginia 23860.
