Evelyn McDonald Jones, 80, died on Sunday, April 28, 2024. Evelyn was born in Tyler, Texas to the late Grover Clayton and Juanita Irene Price McDonald. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Marvin McDonald (Susie Mcdonald). She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She graduated from Hopewell High School in 1962 and went on to work for the US Marine Corps for 20 years as a secretary of the Commanding General of the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, NC. She was also a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC, and was ever supportive of her husband as he served as the pastor of ten churches during their 56 years of marriage. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, taking care of her plants and shopping. Evelyn was a recipient of a liver transplant 21 years ago and a staunch advocate for organ donation. Evelyn Jones is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dr. Aubrey Jones; two daughters, Laura Kapusta and husband, Travis, and Leane Cahoon and husband, Craig; four grandchildren, Will and Cole Kapusta, as well as Ian and Evelyn Grace Cahoon; one brother, Grover McDonald and wife, Terri; two sisters, Linda Ragland and Anita McDonald; and one sister-in-law, Susie McDonald (late Marvin McDonald). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 2 P.M., at Appomattox Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Donate Life America.
