Evelyn Marie Lichvar

Evelyn Marie Lichvar, 89, of Greensboro, NC, passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 5, 2021 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, NC. She was born on June 21, 1931 in Farrell, PA, to the late Martin F. Bauer Sr. and Agnes L. Bauer, originally from Sharon, PA. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Robert M. Lichvar, Retired MAJ, USAF, Retired Virginia State Capital Police, and Southpark Mall in Colonial Heights; and daughter-in-law, Veronica Lichvar of Henrico, VA.
She is survived by her daughter, Janna Housman (Greg) of Greensboro, NC; sons, Richard Lichvar (Connie) of Louisville, KY, Gary Lichvar (Mariclare) of The Villages, FL and Robert (Chip) Lichvar of Henrico, Virginia; brothers, Martin F. Bauer Jr. (Sharon) of Athens, GA, Ronald Zuccaro of Sharpsville, PA; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Evelyn Lichvar graduated 3rd in her high school class. She attended college on a full academic scholarship and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Youngstown College, June 1953. She was employed with Suntrust Bank as Supervisor, retiring after 20 years of service. Evelyn was a faithful member of Gregory Memorial Presbyterian Church, Prince George, VA where she served on the Choir and spent time as a board member. She was an American Red Cross Hospital Volunteer, Girl Scout Leader, and Cub Scout Den Mother. She was also a member of the American Bankers Association. Although she lived in 8 different states and 2 countries throughout her lifetime, she called Prince George and Fort Lee, Virginia home; where she lived for 47 years. Evelyn spent the last 2 years at Richland Place, an Assisted Living and Memory Care Senior Living Community in Greensboro, NC.
A graveside service will be held for family members at Southlawn Memorial Park in Petersburg, Virginia. A memorial service with be held at Gregory Memorial Presbyterian Church in Prince George, VA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in her name be made to the Alzheimer’s Society. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com
