Evelyn S. Lipp

Evelyn Louise Soucek Lipp, 88, of Prince George County, died on Sunday, January 24, 2016, after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank J. and Adeline Kvasnicka Soucek; her husband John Francis Lipp Sr.; her son, John F. Lipp, Jr.; and one brother, Brigadier General Leo E. Soucek. Evelyn is survived by her sons, Michael A. Lipp of Prince George, Mark R. Lipp and his wife Kim of Chesterfield, and Douglas E. Lipp and his wife Beth of Prince George; three grandchildren, Jesse C. Lipp, Kristen K. Lipp and Emily F. Lipp; two brothers Edward Soucek of Claytor Lake, VA and Frank Soucek of Harrisonburg; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mrs. Lipp moved to Prince George at a young age and was a life-long resident of Prince George County. She graduated from the Johnston-Willis Hospital School of Nursing and was in the last class of WACS to train at the end of WWII. Although she did not get a chance to serve, she did run the operating room under the esteemed Dr. Tommy Johns for many years prior to her marriage to John Francis Lipp on April 18, 1953. Evelyn was a member of the Choir at Sacred Heart for many years and was a faithful servant to the Lord. She was a former member of The Junior Woman’s Club of Prince George County, TOPS, H2U, and the Widows and Widowers of Sacred Heart. Evelyn never new a stranger and loved nothing better than being in a social gathering getting to know everyone she met. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank Mrs. Carlessia Weaver-Hall, who cared for Evelyn in her home, and the staff at the Dunlop House in Rose Court for their loving care during her illness.

A funeral mass will be conducted by Reverend Chris Hess at 3:00pm on Friday, January 29, 2016, at the Church of the Sacred Heart in South Prince George, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of the Sacred Heart, 9300 Community Lane, South Prince George, VA 23805. The family will receive friends from 2pm to 3pm at the Church of the Sacred Heart. The family is being served by J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home of Hopewell.
