Evelyn Virginia Seid, 82, of Hopewell, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2011. Mrs. Seid retired from Finance and Accounting Department at Fort Lee; she worked as a volunteer at John Randolph Medical Center for numerous years; she was a volunteer with the Red Cross working in Disaster Services, and also an Instructor in CPR, First Aid, and Pet CPR for the Hopewell-Prince George Chapter; she served as the Arts & Crafts Chairman for the annual Pork, Peanut, and Pine Festival at Chippokes Plantation for 25 years. She worked as a bookkeeper for The Cares Shelter in Petersburg for several years. Mrs. Seid was active in the Eastern Star and the Red Hat Society. She had several hobbies including, ballroom dancing, modeling, and stand-up comedy. She enjoyed participating in pageants where she won numerous titles. She also participated for many years in the John Randolph Pink Tea for Breast Cancer; and was a mentor at the Breast Cancer Support Group. Mrs. Seid also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Filomena Chapman; her husband, Bobby Paul Seid; and four sisters. She is survived by, her sons, Jonathan Paul Seid and his wife Sharmee, and Phillip Wayne Seid; daughter, Carol Seid Hundley; grandchildren, Billie Jo, Paul, J.P., Ashley, Simon, and Sean; great granddaughter, Roseleigh Clare Seid; sisters, Christine DeAlba, and Marguerite Altemus; special niece, Sharon Caldwell and her husband Jim; son-in-law, Jerry D. Hundley; close personal friend, Wendy Jennings and her husband Lewis; as well as numerous family and friends, including her pageant family and Eastern Star Sisters. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at the Hopewell chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Virginia 23060.
