Evelyn Wilmouth Willis

Evelyn W. Willis, 83, of Chester, VA, died Saturday, January 14, 2023. She was raised in Ft. Mitchell, VA, as daughter of the late Vernie C. and Harriett Bailey Wilmoth; and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Douglas E. Willis; her sister, Norma Grey Beasley; and brother-in-law, Jesse Beasley of Colonial Heights. In order to be closer to her daughter, Evelyn moved to San Diego where she made numerous friends, who brought her great joy. A few years ago, she moved with them back to the East Coast.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Kristina Wilson; along with her daughter and son-in-law, Teri and Don Meeks; six grandchildren, Brandy Wilson, Brant Meeks, Caitlin LeFevre, Jonathan Meeks, Michael Meeks, and Nicholas Meeks; and seven great-grandchildren, Attiana Wilson, Tre'sean Seigler, Kailia and Koa Meeks, Ainsley LeFevre, Nathaniel and Bella Meeks, and her eighth great-grandchild is expected this July.

Evelyn spent her professional career in the legal field and retired as a Disciplinarian with the Virginia State Bar. She enjoyed going to work every day as her colleagues delighted her and the law challenged her.

A celebration of life service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 23, 2023, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 22, 2023, at the funeral home.
