Fannie Pulley Collins

Fannie Maude Pulley Collins, 98, of Chester passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015 at John Randolph Hospital in Hopewell, VA. Born on September 4, 1916 in Brunswick, VA, she was the daughter of the late Mark Prince Pulley and Mary Elizabeth Jones Pulley. She was married in January, 1934 to Richard Leroy Collins, Sr. of Conway, S.C. and was preceded in death by her husband after 55 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Albert, Jesse, Frank, and Cleveland; three sisters, Katie, Cota, and Thelma. Mrs. Collins was a devoted Army wife and mother, spending many years living abroad on military bases around the world with her husband and children. She spoke most often of living in the Philippines and Japan. She was a member of the Fort Lee VA Ladies Golf League and enjoyed playing golf, cooking, gardening, crocheting, reading, playing bingo and spending time with her family. She is survived by her three children, Patricia Markey and her husband, Victor Markey of Williamsburg, VA., Richard L. Collins, Jr. of Prince George, VA., and Catherine Jones and her husband, Robert Jones of Chester, VA; three grandsons, Paul Markey and his wife, Kathleen of Finksburg, MD, Steven Markey and his wife, Sonia of Atlanta, GA, and Cory Jones and his husband, Quinn Marlow of Washington, DC; two granddaughters, Rebecca Secrist and her husband, Shawn Secrist of Prince George, VA, and Jennifer Fields of Prince George, VA. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, Robert Wirts, Julie Wirts Gruss, Hayley Secrist, Collin Secrist, and Victoria Markey. Mrs. Collins is also survived by one brother, William Pulley; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends that loved her dearly. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J. T.
