Fay Beale Worrell, 87, of Wakefield, went to heavenly rest on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at her home. She was born November 23, 1923 to the late Edna Harvell and Willie Augusta Beale. She is the widow of V. L. Worrell, Jr. She is predeceased by one son, William L. Worrell. Mrs. Worrell is survived by three children, Cynthia W. Sanborn and her husband, John, of Charlottesville, Robert L. Worrell, and his wife, Janice, of Wakefield, and Christy W. Harris, and her husband, Steve, of Mineral and a very special daughter-in-law, Nan Renney Hutcherson. She is also survived by grandchildren, Neill Sanborn McIvor and Robert Laydon Jackson Harris, step-grandchildren, Stephanie & Jonathan Bussenger and Jeremy & Stephanie Wimmer. There are four step-great grandchildren, Jonathan Bussenger, Jr., Zachary & Cheyenne Murphy & Lucas Wimmer. She has two surviving siblings, Jack Beale of Waverly and Evelyn Beale Crenshaw of Richmond. She was predeceased by brothers, Robert Lee Beale, Cecil L. (Buck) Beale, A. W. (Pete) Beale and a sister, Dorothy Beale Seward. She leaves behind a host of much loved nieces and nephews. She graduated from Wakefield High School in 1941. She attended Smithdeal Massey Business College and served as a U.S. Navy Wave during WWII. She was sent to Hunter College in New York, NY for training and she was stationed at the Port Director's Office at the Naval Operations Base, Norfolk, VA for the duration of the war. She married in 1946, and served as secretary to the Honorable Carlton R. Holladay, Judge until she started her family in 1949. Fay was a devoted wife and mother, who gave lovingly and sacrificially to care for her family. She always put her husband and children first in everything she did. Her other lifelong pursuit was nurturing flowers in her yard. Her sweet spirit will be remembered by all those who knew her. She was a member of Wakefield Baptist Church for 65 years. The family gratefully acknowledges the loving care and support provided by Hazel Gay and many others during the past several years. The family will receive family and friends tonight, Friday, August 5, 2011 from 7 to 9 pm at the Wakefield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A service remembering her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Wakefield Cemetery.
