Fletcher Meade Harrison, 77, of Petersburg, VA, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Born in Richmond, VA, he was the son of the late B.F. and Virginia Harrison; and was also preceded in death by his devoted wife, Ann Harrison. Fletcher is survived by his daughter, Kristy Holleman and her husband, Bob; his grandchildren, Bobby and Maggie Holleman; and his beloved Cat.
Aside from his family and friends, Fletcher's two greatest loves were baseball and racing. He was a pitcher for several Minor League baseball teams before returning to Virginia and opening F. H. Machine, Inc. Fletcher was a skilled machinist and spent many happy hours building and racing cars. He had a large, devoted, and diverse group of friends. Fletcher spent countless hours with his grandchildren; he could never tell them no. From helping them skip school, attending their sports games, or giving them advice, he was always their first call. Fletcher would take on the world for his family and friends, and he was a force to be reckoned with. Fletcher had a deep faith in our Lord, finding beauty in all of His creation and joy in everything around him. He was truly something else, and will be so greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, May 2, 2025, in the chapel. Interment will follow at Butterwood Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request you take time to remember Fletcher by taking your car for a run, catching a ballgame, or having dinner with your family.
