Florence Jaynes Mallory

Florence Jaynes Mallory, 72, of Colonial Heights, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Barter Summers and Helen Virginia Evans Jaynes; her husband, Melvin Lee Mallory, Jr.; and a son, Jay Eric Mallory. Mrs. Mallory’s love for music and the arts was demonstrated through years of dedicated assistance to her sons in their musical endeavors, craft making, floral arranging and as a choir member at Southside Church of the Nazarene. She also participated in many beauty pageants throughout her life. She is survived by her grandson, Richard W. Mallory, Jr.; son, Richard W. Mallory, Sr.; her beloved pet cat, “Dee Dee”; cousins, Kathy Germroth, Cecelia Becker and Sandra Shawn; longtime friends, Rose Marie Payne, Barbara and Tommy Sammons; members of the Mallory family, Jerry Mallory, and Tommy and Jean Mallory; numerous extended family members and many friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22nd at the Chester Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
