Floyd Monroe Townsend, Jr., 79, passed away on March 18, 2024. He was born to the late Floyd Sr. and Ruth Townsend. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Christine Harrell. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Suzanne Burton Townsend; his children, Jacquetta Todd (Kim) and William B. Sanders (Patricia); his grandson, Kyle Sanders; his sister, Elizabeth Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Floyd was a devoted member of Second Chance Baptist Church as well as a proud member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans; Camp A.P. Hill #167 as a member of the Mechanized Cavalry. He loved all things pertaining to automotive and would gladly help anyone work on a car or a motorcycle. The service will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park. A visitation will be held the night before from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Tunnels to Towers Project.
