Forrest Maitland Wells, 93, a lifelong resident of Dinwiddie County, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023. Born in Dewitt, VA, he was the son of the late Joseph Lear and Mary Anna Maitland Wells. Mr. Wells was a United States Army veteran, having faithfully served his country in the Korean War with the 7th Infantry Division as a Sergeant. Following his discharge from the Army in 1961, he went on to work for Brown and Williamson Tobacco, the Dinwiddie County Waste Management and lastly, farming in his beloved county. Mr. Wells was a lifelong active member of Rocky Run United Methodist Church and had served the church in numerous different capacities over the years. He is survived by many loving cousins; and his devoted caregivers, Sanda "Potter" Sarr, Brenda Lacy Mackey, Gloria Jean Tucker, and Rita Flowers. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Rocky Run United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry House, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery immediately following the service. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
