Frances Slate Cain, 83, of Powhatan, left her earthly home and entered her eternal home with her Lord and Savior quickly and peacefully in her sleep on Friday, July 31, 2015 at the Loving Heart Adult Home. Born in Dinwiddie, she was the daughter of the late William Meade and Annie Elizabeth Rose Slate. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Clarice Doyle, Ellen Danby, Kathryn Spain, and Elizabeth Maitland. Frances was a graduate of Dinwiddie High School. She was a member of Old Powhatan Baptist Church. Frances had a strong love for her family and they were her life. She is survived by her husband, Roy Nelson Cain; three daughters, Dianne Cain Cruise and her husband, Ralph, Janet Glynn Cain, and Melanie Cain Huffman and husband, John; brother, William Slate; three grandchildren, Tyler, Brandon, and Hunter Huffman; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their appreciation to two special friends, Mayris Bradley and Bernice Vickers, who cared for her as if she was their own mother. They made the requirements of caring for Frances during her illness much easier. They would also like to acknowledge the prayers and love rendered by their home church, Old Powhatan Baptist Church, throughout her illness. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior.
