Frances Elizabeth Bendall Houchins, 92, of Prince George passed away on October 19, 2012. She was born on August 9, 1920, to the late Lorena Blanche Harrison Bendall and Willie James Bendall. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Roger William Houchins, Sr.; son, Roger William Houchins, Jr.; and a granddaughter, Neely Hope Hedrick. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1939. She joined Newville Baptist Church and was baptized in Neblett’s Mill Pond at the age of 16. Mrs. Houchins was an active member of Monumental Baptist Church since 1946 where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years. Mrs. Houchins retired as the Food Service Manager for Prince George High School. She is survived by her children, Barbara Houchins Hatch of Atlanta, GA, June Houchins Shannon of Petersburg, David Lee Houchins Sr. and wife, Linda of Chesterfield, and Kay Houchins Hagaman of Prince George; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at Monumental Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the church.
