Frances Boush Johnson of Rappahannock Westminster Canterbury, Irvington, Virginia, formerly of Petersburg, Virginia died Saturday, February 28, 2009. She was the daughter of Myrtle Adams Johnson and Francis Johnson. Born in Danville, Va., on November 26, 1920. She grew up in Petersburg, Virginia and was educated in the Petersburg public schools and attended Duke University. She was a lifetime member of Christ and Grace Episcopal Church, being active in many areas, including Sunday School teaching, Christian Education Secretary, Chairman of the Alter Guild for a number of years, involved in the music of the church as a choir soloist and served on the organ committee. Her preservation interest included the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities, serving as secretary and Fort Henry Branch Director for two terms, being a member of the Board of Trustees. She also served on the committee for the Jamestown 350th Anniversary Celebration, Historic Petersburg Foundation and continues to be a member of Historic Blandford Cemetery Foundation, Historic Christ Church of Irvington, as well as the Colonial Williamsburg Burgresses and the W. A. R. Godwin Society of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. She was a member of the American Rose Society, and a member of the Bristol Parish Garden Club, serving as secretary and president. After many years in the legal field, she retired in 1987 and moved with her sister and brother-in-law to reside in Rappahannock Westminster Canterbury in lrvington. She continued to be active as a Board member and officer of the Residentsâ?? Association with special duties and volunteer service in the civic and church organizations. She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy J. Temple and her brother-in-law, William T. Temple. She is survived by several cousins, including R. Burke Johnson and wife of West Point, Va., and R. Burke Johnson, Jr., and his family of Irvington, Va., Taylor Johnson, and his family of Goochland, Va., and a godson, Christopher B Greene and his family of New Hampshire and other family members and friends. Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Christ and Grace Episcopal Church, 1545 S. Sycamore Street, Petersburg, Va., with interment at Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Va. The Rev. David H. Teschner and The Rev. Dr. Boston M. Lackey, Jr. and Rev. Dr. Davis Smith of Rappahannock Westminster Canterbury will officiate.
