Frances Mazzei Leslie

Frances M. "Cookie" Leslie, 82, peacefully went to be with the Lord, on August 15, 2024, while surrounded by her loved ones at home. Frances was born in 1942, in Hopewell, Virginia, to the late Raymond and Elizabeth Mazzei. She has gone on to live eternal life with her Lord and savior, and her loved ones who passed on before her, and singing with the angels in Heaven.
She was the oldest of three children, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Frances retired from Signet Bank as Corporate Secretary and Secretary to the President. She enjoyed life, and loved to sing, read, and travel. She gave her all, always being there for everyone and enjoyed making friends. Frances was a member of the GPGC "jeeps" in high school. For many years she taught Sunday and Bible School, and sang in the Church Choir at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church. She was a Book Buddy reading instructor at the elementary schools in Hopewell, which she really loved. She also sang with the"Praises" Gospel group.
Frances is survived by her husband of 63 years, Earl R. Leslie, Jr.; her sister, Patricia Griffin (Roger); her daughter, Vicki Leslie (Michael); son, David Leslie (Celest); son, Michael Leslie; granddaughter, Kayeley Williams; grandsons, Zachary Williams (Leah) and Brooks Leslie; great-grandchildren, Maddie Curlis, Rhett Williams, and Emma Williams.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Elizabeth Mazzei; brother, Raymond Mazzei, Jr.; half-sister, Nan Bowman; half-brother, Gordan Andrews; and daughter, Kimberly Williams.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to Gentiva Hospice for all the wonderful care towards Cookie over the past few weeks, especially to Stephanie, Brandy, and Lenee.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 10:00 AM, at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, with a funeral service following at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Cookie's memory may be made to Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, or the American cancer Society.
