Frances Uzel Sebera

Frances Uzel Sebera, 86, of Prince George, died peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2015. She was the seventh of eight children born in Dinwiddie to Czech immigrants Caroline Kuska Uzel and Karel Uzel. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Joseph W. Sebera Jr.; and her 6 older siblings, Mary Volhein, Anna Volhein, Charles Uzel, Emil Uzel, Helen Blaha, and Alice Peterson. She is survived by her youngest brother, Albert J. Uzel (Nancy); her brother-in-law, Robert Peterson; her only child, Dennis W. Sebera (Cheryl); her grandchildren, Justin W. Sebera (Mary), Thackston D. Sebera (Mary), Jaclyn Campbell, and Sonny Elmore (Ashley). She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Regan, David, Kelsey, Sawyer, June, and Claire. Frances was a former Deputy Clerk of the Circuit Court in Prince George County. She was a Cursiesta and a devoted member of the Church of the Sacred Heart at New Bohemia where, for many years, she was a member of the Altar Society, the Arts and Environment Committee, and a dedicated member of the church choir. Frances was also a member of St. John’s Social Club at St. John Nepomucene in Dinwiddie, the Prince George Women’s Club, a charter member of the Prince George Volunteer Fireman’s Association, and a dedicated member of the local Canasta Club. Her home and appearance were always meticulous. She loved working in the yard and cooked many wonderful meals for family and friends. All were welcome in her home. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. A Christian Wake service will be held at 7:00 P.M. A mass will be held at the Church of the Sacred Heart, 9300 Community Ln., Petersburg, VA 23805, on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
