Francisco Gutierrez, 80, of Hopewell, VA went to be with the Lord on May 20, 2014. Born in Salt Creek, Pueblo, Colorado he was the son of the late Francisco G. and Mariquyta Archuletta Gutierrez; and was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Helen Abbie Gutierrez; and fourteen brothers and sisters. Mr. Gutierrez retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service as a Master Sergeant. During his military career he served in the Korean Conflict and also served two tours in Vietnam with the Special Forces, where he earned a Bronze Star Medal. After retiring from the Army he went on to serve as a logistics specialist at Ft. Lee, VA. He also held a Master’s Degree in English, loved Frank Sinatra’s music and taught Arthur Murray Ballroom Dancing. Mr. Gutierrez never met a stranger. Everyone who ever met him loved him dearly. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Mr. Gutierrez is survived by two sons, Stanley Kenneth Gutierrez and Guy Tremayne Gutierrez; one daughter, Jacqueline R. Gutierrez-Moxley; and four grandchildren, Frank P., Dakota M., Diego E., and Abbie Helen Gutierrez. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home with Fr. Frank Wiggins, Celebrant. Interment will be private.
